"I
picked up my plane in Denver and went to my other home in Minden NV,725NM. I was
at 16500', 182 KTAS, 13.5 GPH, but the best part was climbing out of Denver at
1100 feet per minute. Then the next day I flew to my winter homn in Sedona AZ,
458 NM, short trip so I like to get there so I went just less best power, 2700
RPM, 13500', 16.6 GPH, 191 KTAS, oil temp hot day was 194. I am like a kid with
a new toy. Thanks Rod. My plane used to get oil on the belly but no more, stays
right on 6 qt."
Technical Information
The
supercharger is belt driven off the accessory drive, similar to the alternator.
It will run much cooler than a turbocharger and should result in much lower
maintenance costs. It will add 7-8000 feet of altitude performance to the Cirrus
SR-22. Impeller speed is a function of engine RPM and therefore over speed and
bootstrapping are not considerations. There are no MP fluctuations while
adjusting the throttle, or mixture. Idle cool down periods are not necessary.
Manifold pressure is limited to 29.6 inches at full power.
Manifold
pressure is maintained automatically by a state of the art electronic boost
controller designed for the SR22 by FAT. The controller generally reacts to
throttle changes in less then one second. The boost controller is not affected
by cold oil temperatures or cold take off conditions and will operate quickly to
control boost even down to -50F.
-
Efficient - uses approximately 4.0 horse power at cruise
-
Light weight - approximately 39 pounds
-
Cool engine temperatures
-
Easy pilot workload - no bootstrapping or overshoot.
-
No TIT to monitor
-
No pre-shut down cool down required.
-
No engine-oil driven control systems
-
No scavenge pump
-
No waste gate
